SHKLOV DISTRICT, 22 June (BelTA) – It is time to enforce iron discipline at enterprises instead of relying on persuasions. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the relevant statement during the government conference in Shklov District, Mogilev Oblast on 22 June, BelTA has learned.

Gennady Lavrenkov, Aide to the President, Inspector for Mogilev Oblast, mentioned the lack of manpower and specialists as well as the low level of responsibility as a problem. He believes the situation can be changed by higher salaries and by making the salary dependent on the end result. “It is necessary to sell high-quality milk in addition to simply producing it. The minds of many specialists need to change to make it happen. It is necessary to demonstrate how money can be and should be earned. Then the technology and the rest will follow. We cannot assign a taskmaster to every worker to make them follow the technological process,” said the official.

Alexander Lukashenko pointed out that technology is dictatorship. “Salaries are paid for observing the technology and producing results. Salaries are not paid prior to observing the technology. People are jailed for failing to observe the technology in some countries. And, of course, the owner of the enterprise will fire such a failure right away. This is why persuasion… Listen, we don’t live in the USSR anymore when people would gather for a party meeting and try to persuade each other,” said the head of state.

“This is how things are done all over the world. But it should be done fairly. People shouldn’t be humiliated and punished for nothing. Everyone knows it. But some Belarusian executives fail to understand it. Punishments should be enforced for bad work, for failures to observe the technology, or, god forbid, unlawful actions. We need iron discipline. Everything should work smoothly,” stressed the Belarusian leader.

Alexander Lukashenko wondered whether his instructions to permanently deny executive positions to people, who had been fired for failures to discharge professional duties or fired on disciplinary charges, were being fulfilled. “Do they promptly find jobs without your knowledge?” said Alexander Lukashenko. He said he wanted such executives to stay doing basic jobs in accordance with their vocational training.

The head of state stressed that everything should be objective and honest. “Make people understand their specific tasks at every enterprise. Tell them how much you are going to pay them and how you will help them in general. Those are your people. You are responsible for them,” added the Belarusian leader.
