Lukashenko goes to Serbia on official visit

MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) – Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has headed to the Republic of Serbia on an official visit, BelTA has learned.

On 12 June the Belarusian head of state is expected to hold one-on-one talks with his Serbian counterpart Tomislav Nikolic. Then the presidents will hold extended negotiations.

Alexander Lukashenko will also meet with Patriarch Irinej of Serbia, according to the press service.

During the President’s visit to Serbia Belgrade will host the Belarusian-Serbian Business Forum and a business matchmaking session.

The Belarusian head of state visited Serbia three times: in 1998, 1999 and 2009. In March 2013 the Serbian President made an official visit to Belarus.

Belarus and Serbia are focused on the enhancement of trade and economic cooperation which became increasingly vibrant after the signing of the bilateral free trade agreement in 2009.
