Lukashenko: Former government members should not stay on the sidelines

MINSK, 31 August (BelTA) – Dismissed government members should not stay on the sidelines, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said when announcing personnel decisions on 31 August, BelTA has learned.

“They are good executives in some respect. They say that Vladimir Semashko is an old, sick man... He is neither old or sick. He has a good head on his shoulders. We need people. For example, in a more narrow segment, or the breakthrough line, or certain sectors. Neither he or Matyushevsky, or others, if they are not kleptocrats or slackers, should stay out of our radar. We should use them for the benefit of our people and the state,” the president said.

“This concerns everyone, including [former Industry Minister Vitaly] Vovk. He once was a good manager, but something did not work. No one should take offence and think they are going to be sidelined. If they want to work, they will. I advise you to take this approach towards your employees,” the head of state said.
