Lukashenko expects breakthrough ideas from government

MINSK, 29 December (BelTA) – Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko expects the government to come up with constructive and breakthrough ideas to increase the efficiency of the domestic economy. The President made this statement as he presented newly-appointed Premier Andrei Kobyakov on 29 December, BelTA has learned.

“Decisive, experienced, pragmatic, well-informed and sensible people were appointed to work in the government. Therefore, we expect you to suggest constructive and breakthrough ideas to make our economy more efficient. You are the think tank that should develop methods and ways to ensure sustainable and balanced economic growth and improvement of living standards of people,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The President noted that apart from addressing current tasks, the government should start working on plans for the mid-term perspective, first of all Belarus’ social and economic development draft program for 2016-2020. This program is to be defended at the next All-Belarus People’s Congress.

Alexander Lukashenko reminded that the authorities will have to take a serious test next year. “Much depends on you, on your ability to mobilize all resources to achieve the goals that were set. Everyone should work in a way so that people will not blame you for any of the serious issues. We need to roll up sleeves and get down to work,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
