MINSK, 7 October (BelTA) – Belarus is not going to go to war with anyone, but will protect its interests, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said when addressing the Belarusian Parliament on 7 October, BelTA has learned.
“Many act from the position of strength, and therefore there is no need to reproach me for trying to make our country stronger. With a normal policy towards us, we will be your friendliest state,” he said.
“We are not going to go to war with anybody. We are going to protect our interests, and we are doing this not for war. We are doing this so that those who want to fight with us see that this could be dangerous and harmful for them,” he said.
The President drew attention to the difficult situation in the world. In some countries, children and innocent civilians are dying. “Why do not the democratic states, which had bombed and continue to bomb Syria, think about this? If they want to shield themselves from refugees, there is only one way: help these states back to their feet, set up production facilities so that people have work. Why do not they do this?” Alexander Lukashenko asked a rhetoric question.
The head of state stressed that Belarus is interested in peace and security, peaceful cooperation with other countries.
