Lukashenko against canceling 7 November holiday

MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) – It is too early to cancel the holiday of 7 November, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the press conference for the Russian regional mass media on 17 November.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that October Revolution happened because there were a lot of problems in the country. “It is our history. We celebrate this day officially on 7 November. The time will come when people will no longer need to celebrate this holiday and will not pay attention to it. Maybe it will be canceled in the future. Today is no time for this,” Alexander Lukashenko said. He added that there is no need to impose any new holidays.

According to the head of state, there are no things in history that need to be thrown away. “We should not reject our past,” said the President.

“We must be objective. We cannot reject the facts of history. We need to consider all of them. We cannot pull out the facts that seem good to us today in terms of political life, and keep silent on others. This will backfire. We should not hide anything and explain why it happened and whether it is possible today,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
