Innovations, investments to determine future Belarus-China relations

MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – Innovations and investments should determine the nature of Belarus-China relations in the future. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement during the fifth Belarusian People’s Congress on 22 June, BelTA has learned.

The President remarked that in the last few years Belarus has implemented strategic decisions to enhance economic ties with the People’s Republic of China and has advanced the bilateral relations to the level of integrated strategic partnership. “We need the innovative and investment components to determine the nature of mutual relations with Great China in the near future. This is why today it is extremely important to generate investment projects and business ideas, which have been substantiated taking into account the market conditions, in order to attract Chinese investors,” stressed the President.

The recent launch of a Belarusian satellite using the Chinese space launch complex Xichang and the creation of modern defensive systems have advanced Belarus-China technological cooperation to new heights, reminded the head of state.

Speaking about the diversification of target markets, Alexander Lukashenko mentioned it is necessary to penetrate the markets of Peru, Chile, Uruguay, Nicaragua, Columbia, and Mexico despite certain logistical difficulties. “A lot has already been done for that,” pointed out the President.

Stepping up the export of services to Latin America — construction services, geological surveying, oil extraction services — looks promising. Belarus’ cooperation with Africa is on the rise, mainly thanks to the forming of reliable channels to promote Belarusian products. “Today it is necessary to secure the sustainable nature of our export growth to Africa,” the head of state was convinced.
