Indonesia views opening of its diplomatic mission in Minsk as important

MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) – Indonesia emphasized the importance of opening its diplomatic mission in Minsk at the meeting between Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko and Vice Speaker of the People’s Representative Council of Indonesia Agus Hermanto, BelTA learnt from the press service of the House of Representatives.

During the meeting that took place in Moscow as part of the first meeting of the speakers of parliament of Eurasian countries, the parties praised regular bilateral political and inter-parliamentary contacts and expressed confidence that the parliamentary diplomacy can do a lot for strengthening ties between Belarus and Indonesia. “Indonesian MPs stressed the efficient work of the Belarusian embassy in Indonesia and pointed to the importance of opening Indonesia’s diplomatic mission in Minsk,” the press service said.

The parties agreed on further exchange of parliamentary visits with the aim of searching for new cooperation areas.

The sides also discussed issues of synchronized ratification of agreements, strengthening trade and economic cooperation with the assistance of the chambers of commerce of the two countries, interregional cooperation, interaction in other areas of mutual interest.

Apart from that, Vladimir Andreichenko held a meeting with Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Congress of Philippines Giorgidi Aggabao. The parties stressed an important role in strengthening ties between the parliaments of the two countries that closely cooperate in international organizations such as the ASEAN IPA and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The parties expressed the mutual aim for further expansion of the legal framework (including basic economic agreements), strengthening of collaboration in trade, economic, sci-tech and other sectors.
