Government to discuss strategy to develop Belarus till 2030 on 10 September

MINSK, 28 August (BelTA) – The strategy Republic of Belarus 2030: Knowledge Economy Formation will be discussed at the session of the Commission for State Scientific and Technical Policy under the Council of Ministers on 10 September, the press service of the Belarus government told BelTA.

Participants of the session are supposed to discuss the main provisions of the strategy and work out decisions to implement them. Results will be reported to the head of state, said the press service.

The strategy has been prepared by scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. As long-term priorities for developing the country the strategy suggests human capital and culture, science and innovations, economy and competitive ability, business and entrepreneurship, energy (energy effectiveness), international and regional logistics and other factors.

The document stipulates a systemic scientific approach to the integration of new knowledge in the sphere of science, technologies, and manufacturing and the application of the knowledge to achieve goals of the country’s economic, social and cultural development.

It will be the first time the commission will operate with new members. Led by the prime minister, the commission comprises executives, respected scientists and specialists of individual government agencies, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, key enterprises and the business sector. The representation of branch science and humanitarian science has been expanded to include young scientists, who have earned a name in the scientific community and the state administration system. The commission has also been expanded with scientific personnel, who are experienced in developing and assimilating innovations in the real sector.

The state pays close attention to the development of scientific, technical and innovative activities. Therefore, the commission focuses on topical matters concerning scientific and technical development and the definition of priority avenues of scientific research, scientific, technical and innovative activities as well as the effective utilization of the country’s scientific and technical potential and commercialization of scientific products, the development of new forms of state support for scientific research and innovation projects, the creation of conditions to attract domestic and foreign investments into Belarusian science.

Working out proposals to improve the legal framework for the development of scientific and innovative activities is one of the main tasks of the commission. In essence the commission operates as a scientific and technical council of the government, said the press service of the Belarus government.
