MINSK, 29 September (BelTA) - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong is expected to pay a visit to Belarus in November, Ambassador of Vietnam to Belarus Do Van Mai said at a solemn meeting on 29 August to mark the country’s Independence Day, BelTA has learned.
The diplomat noted that the visit would promote the Belarusian-Vietnamese cooperation. Vietnam and Belarus are currently busy with preparing for the visit. “Vietnam is interested in strengthening friendship and cooperation with Belarus,” the Vietnamese diplomat said.
According to the Ambassador, Vietnam conducts a multiple-vector foreign policy and attaches great attention to the relations with the friendly countries, including Belarus. close contacts at the high level, political and economic ties testify to the fact. The diplomat also noted the importance of the Belarusian-Vietnamese cooperation in international organizations, including the Non-Aligned Movement.
The Vietnamese diplomat stressed that Vietnam and Belarus stay committed for the agreements reached during the high-level meetings and talks.
Vietnam marks Independence Day on 2 September.
