MINSK, 28 August (BelTA) – France welcomed the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia that took place in Minsk on 26 August, runs a message posted on the official website of the Foreign Ministry of France, BelTA has learned.
“France welcomes the holding of discussions at the highest level between Ukraine and Russia in Minsk aimed at reaching a peaceful and lasting solution to the crisis,” the Foreign Ministry of France said.
France also calls for mobilizing efforts to reach a solution that would involve a ceasefire, more effective control of the border between Russia and Ukraine and the launch of the national dialogue in Ukraine. According to the Foreign Ministry, France is prepared to contribute to any initiative in this direction.
The French ministry also stressed that Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius is in close contact with his German, Ukrainian and Russian counterparts within the framework of the dialogue process launched in Normandy in June.
