MINSK, 26 May (BelTA) – Belarus respects the choice of Ukrainian people and is ready for the further constructive cooperation with the neighboring country, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said in its statement commenting on the presidential election in Ukraine, BelTA has learnt.

“We acknowledge that the election campaign was conducted in an unprecedentedly tough and tense environment. Unfortunately, part of Ukrainian citizens was not involved in the electoral process. At the same time, the Ukrainian society demonstrated a high level of responsibility and determination to achieve national accord, internal stability and sustainable economic and political development,” the statement reads.

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry hopes that the election will help restore mutual understanding, bring the situation back to normal, and build a full-fledged power vertical in Ukraine.
