MINSK, 14 December (BelTA) - Ecuador Vice President Jorge Glas Espinel arrived in Minsk on an official visit, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Honorary Consulate of Ecuador in Belarus.

The Ecuadorian high guest is accompanied by a big delegation comprising heads of ministries and agencies. In particular, the delegation includes the Minister-Coordinator of Strategic Sectors, the Minister of Foreign Trade, the Ministry of Industry, the Minister-Coordinator of Production, Employment and Competitiveness, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The visit is held as part of the agreements reached during the official visit of President of Ecuador Rafael Correa to Belarus in October 2013.

It is expected that the meetings in Minsk will highlight a wide range of issues of the Belarusian-Ecuadorian cooperation. For instance, bilateral relations in the energy sector will be considered at a meeting of the working group on energy and gas. According to the Energy Ministry, Belarus will present the most promising cooperation areas, including power generation and transmission, gas supplies. The parties are also expected to elaborate a coordinated position for further energy cooperation between Belarus and Ecuador.
