MOSCOW, 22 May (BelTA) - Ecuador will open an embassy and a trade promotion office in Belarus, BelTA learnt from Head of Ecuador’s Trade Office in Russia Carlos Lema.

In his words, the two Ecuadorian institutions will be opened in Minsk in 2014. The trade office will become operational in July.

According to the diplomat, Belarus and Ecuador have been steadily developing their relations. “We count on the creation of a robust platform for the development of our relations in the trade, economic and political sectors,” he said.

According to Carlos Lema, Ecuador has already defined the main areas for economic cooperation with Belarus: these are the supplies of the Belarusian mechanical engineering products, agricultural equipment as well as of Ecuadorian goods to Belarus. “This year is very important for strengthening the relations between Belarus and Ecuador,” the diplomat said.

On 22 May the Ecuadorian representative took part in a seminar organized by the Embassy of Belarus in Russia. The seminar featured a presentation of the economic potential of Belarus for Latin America.
