Documents on Belarus-Azerbaijan cooperation in animal health, crop health, traceability signed

BAKU, 18 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Azerbaijan have signed documents on cooperation as a result of a business meeting of Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko and Azerbaijan Prime Minister Ali Asadov, BelTA has learned.

The sides signed a protocol on transition towards the integration of information systems in the area of animal health and crop health between the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry and the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Center for Animal Husbandry Information Systems (Belarus) and the Azerbaijan Food Safety Institute. It provides for cooperation in creating and assimilating systems for the identification, registration, and traceability of animals.

In 2021 Belarus-Azerbaijan trade totaled $885.5 million, 1.9 times up from 2020. Belarus’ export reached $478 million, 2.5 times up. Belarus secured a foreign trade surplus. The main exports to Azerbaijan in 2021 were towed and motorized railway or tram cars, tractors, fiberboard, butter, medications, furniture, turbojet and turboprop engines, gas turbines, timber, beef, and other products. In 2021 Belarus imported Azerbaijani tomatoes, strong alcoholic beverages, cooked or canned fruits and nuts, fresh fruits, fruit and vegetable juices, meat and poultry byproducts, potatoes, clay, and other goods.
