Distinguished Belarusians honored with state awards

MINSK, 10 January (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has signed a decree to present nine people with the state award of the Republic of Belarus in recognition of their commitment to work, high achievements in art and sports, great personal contribution to the development of culture and sport, implementation of the state information policy, active community involvement, BelTA learnt from the presidential press service.

Medals for excellence in labor were bestowed upon members of Belarus President’s ice hockey team Oleg Antonenko, Stepan Ponomarev and Vladimir Tsyplakov, instructing athlete of HC Gomel Leonid Grishukevich.

The same medal went to vocalist of Mogilev Oblast Philharmonic Hall Iskui Abalyan.

The Medal of Francysk Skaryna was conferred on artists-vocalists of the Youth Variety Theater Viktoria Aleshko and Dmitry Tanyukevich, observer of the Sovetkaya Belorussiya newspaper Aelita Syulzhina, deputy director general of the main directorate of the Television News Agency of the National State TV and Radio Company Ivan Eismont.

The official letter of thanks was given to soloist of the National Academic Symphony and Popular Music Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus Dmitry Kocherovsky in recognition of his high achievements in art and considerable personal contribution to the development of the Belarusian culture.

Besides, the official letter of thanks was also issued to feature editor of the Zvyazda newspaper Svetlana Protas and special correspondent of the Second National TV Channel Marina Timofeyeva for personal contribution to the implementation of the state information policy, coverage of social, political and economic developments in the country.
