MINSK, 16 June (BelTA) – Belarus puts high hopes on the development of relations with Turkmenistan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Turkmenistan Oleg Tabanyukhov told media in Ashgabat, BelTA has learned.
“It is a unique country which is very promising for us and we put high hopes on it,” the diplomat said. In his words, the two countries have very much in common. “In particular, Turkmenistan has chosen a path of industrialization and adopted the corresponding programs. We find our niches in these programs,” Oleg Tabanyukhov said. He noted that a new impetus to the bilateral relations was added by the official visit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to Turkmenistan in November 2013.
On 11-13 June 2014 Belarusian Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich led a governmental delegation to Turkmenistan. Belarus offered the country a number of joint projects. These are projects in the innovation and investment sectors, projects in setting up joint companies. During the talks with Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov an agreement was reached to increase and expand the assortment in the supplies of the Belarusian equipment.
“Apart from that we have interesting programs, projects in the food sector. We supply our products (agricultural) here and Turkmenistan suggests setting up joint meat processing companies,” the Ambassador said.
