Belarus, UK to establish business cooperation council

MINSK, 13 November (BelTA) - Belarus and the United Kingdom will establish a business cooperation council. The agreement on this was reached in the course of the meetings of the Belarusian delegation with UK politicians and businessmen. The Belarusian delegation is in London for the Belarusian investment forum, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarus Foreign Ministry.

The Belarusian delegation members met with Alexander Justham, CEO of London Stock Exchange, members of the British Parliament and representatives of the investment, banking and manufacturing companies of the UK. The parties discussed practical issues of expanding mutually beneficial investment, trade and economic cooperation between the countries, agreed on the establishment of the Belarusian-British business cooperation council.

Meetings are scheduled with Permanent Secretary of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills Martin Donnelly and President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Suma Chakrabarti.

The Belarusian delegation is headed by Chairman of the Board of the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Rumas. It includes Economy Minister Nikolai Snopkov, First Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Mikhnevich, Deputy Finance Minister Maxim Yermolovich, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank Sergei Kalechits and other representatives of the government, industry, banking, insurance and other organizations in the country.

The Belarusian-UK investment forum is due in London on 14 November.
