Belarus’ transport ministry keen to see international air travel resume soon

MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry is in favor of resuming international air travel as soon as possible, Director of the Aviation Department of the Transport and Communications Ministry of Belarus Artyom Sikorsky said as he took part in a video conference featuring heads of civil aviation administrations of the European and North Atlantic Office of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry.

The participants delivered reports about measures taken to resume air travel and mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Belarus is taking all the necessary measures in compliance with the international standards on COVID-19 response, Artyom Sikorsky noted. “The Belarusian national aviation administration fully supports the initiatives of the ICAO and IATA [the International Air Transport Association] to resume international air travel as soon as possible,” he said.

Following the conference, the parties are to compile reports that will be reviewed at the next meeting.
