MINSK, 25 October (BelTA) – Belarus’ delegation led by Vice Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Marianna Shchetkina will take part in the Baku Forum on Sustainable Development on 25-26 October. The national coordinator for SDGs will present the Belarusian experience in SDGs achievement, BelTA learned from the press service of the Council of the Republic.

Marianna Shchetkina will deliver a welcoming speech at the official opening ceremony of the Baku forum. She will also take part in an interactive discussion on the role of youth, women, parliament, and civil society in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Marianna Shchetkina will lay out the results of the work carried out in Belarus to achieve the SDGs, the structure of national SDG architecture. She will speak about the interaction between government bodies, business and public organizations in this area,” the press service informed.

The event will also focus on the regional cooperation between the countries and Belarus’ initiative to establish a network of national SDG coordinators. On the sidelines of the forum, Marianna Shchetkina will hold a series of bilateral meetings.

The Council of the Republic recalled that in February Minsk hosted the Forum of Regional SDG Coordination Leaders. The idea to set up the network was first voiced then.
