Belarus to focus on quality in 2015 government action plan

MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) – In the 2015 government action plan Belarus will make a focus on its shifting from quantity to quality, Belarusian Premier Andrei Kobyakov told media, BelTA has learned.

The government is currently working on its action plan for 2015. “There will be no drastic changes in the document. The focus will be first of all on the assessment of the activity from the point of quality figures,” the PM said. Equally important should be “balancing our needs with our potential.”

According to Andrei Kobyakov, the head of state held a number of meetings during the new budget drafting. The budget was first based on the oil price of $100 per barrel. Then the price lowered to $83 and is currently under $50. “The situation needs adequate response measures from us, that’s why the government is looking into the possible development of the situation (the government has already drafted a document). No one in the world can predict the final oil price, further economic development in Russia and the CIS, as well as in the European Union that also has its economic ups and downs. This points to the fact that we should take a very careful look at our budget expenditure,” Andrei Kobyakov said.

The head of government stressed: “We are not talking about cuts in social spending of salary payment. Nevertheless, the things we can do later will be set aside.” The main thing for the new year is to secure balanced and continuous development of the Belarusian economy, the Prime Minister added.
