MINSK, 3 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian Healthcare Ministry will discuss technical details of the visit of WHO experts to Belarus via a videoconference on 3 April, Belarus’ Deputy Healthcare Minister Yelena Bogdan told reporters on 3 April, BelTA has learned.

“At 18:30 Minsk time we will have a videoconference with Copenhagen [the headquarters of the WHO Regional Office for Europe],” Yelena Bogdan said.

The parties will discuss details of the visit of WHO specialists who were invited to Belarus by the head of state. The WHO experts will assess the situation and the adequacy of coronavirus containment efforts in Belarus and analyze clinical protocols and approaches to providing medical help.

The deputy minister informed that Belarus has plans to take part in WHO global surveillance of the coronavirus disease. She explained that this is not about clinical trials of new medicines, but the assessment of efficiency of exiting medications.

“Yesterday we talked to WHO specialists via videoconference. We are studying the materials they provided. Very soon we will make a decision whether we will take part in it,” Yelena Bogdan said. In her words, the decision is likely to be positive, because the country will take part in the development of the coronavirus treatment protocol that will be used in all the countries.
