Belarus, Sudan expand legal framework of bilateral relations

MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) – Belarus and Sudan have expanded the legal framework of bilateral cooperation, Foreign Ministry of Belarus told BelTA as it commented on the results of the second meeting of the joint Belarusian-Sudanese Commission on Cooperation that took place in Khartoum on 18-19 December.

The commission signed the protocol of the meeting that included agreements in such areas as trade, industry, agriculture, energy, petrochemistry and healthcare.

Special attention was focused on expanding the legal framework of bilateral cooperation. The commission signed interdepartmental agreements on cooperation in education and healthcare, initialed the text of the intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in science and technology, reached agreements to prepare a number of other bilateral agreements for signing in the near future.

While in Sudan, head of the Belarusian delegation, Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik met with President of Sudan Omar al-Bashir. Vladimir Potupchik also met with Vice Speaker of the Sudanese Parliament Issa Bushra and representatives of the Industry Ministry of Sudan. The parties discussed the status and prospects of bilateral cooperation in various areas, including the ways to intensify the political dialogue, trade, economic and investment cooperation.
