MINSK, 6 April (BelTA) – All Belarusian tourist groups are back home, Director of the Tourist Department of the Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry Irina Voronovich told BelTA.

“According to tour operators and travel agents, there are no Belarusian tourist groups abroad today. There were some problems with the return of the last six tourists from Thailand, but they returned to Minsk yesterday,” said Irina Voronovich.

As for individual tourists who organized their holidays without the help of travel agencies, some of them are still abroad. It is hard to say how many of them are there. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working on their return together with other government agencies.

A hot line continues to operate for consultation in the tourism department. Over 1,150 calls have been received so far. The department continues to receive emails, with over 350 emails received. “Now the hot line works from 7.00 to 19.00. We continue to consult and answer questions. During the peak, the hot line worked 24/7. There are no calls at night today,” Irina Voronovich explained.

As BelTA reported earlier, about 8,000 tourists, who bought tours in travel agencies and faced problems with border closures due to the coronavirus, needed help in their return to Belarus. The largest number of Belarusian tourists, about 6,000 people, were in Egypt. Belarusian planes helped to bring home foreign citizens, too.
