Belarus, Russia’s Tula Oblast seek to expand cooperation

MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia’s Tula Oblast are keen to step up cooperation, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom following a videoconference between Bellegprom and the government of Tula Oblast.

The government of Tula Oblast sees Belarus as a reliable strategic partner, Tula Oblast First Deputy Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev noted. Belarus and Tula Oblast have established cooperation in all areas of economic development and have huge prospects for enhancing this cooperation. “We successfully cooperate in agriculture, sport, culture, business, education, and manufacturing. This is especially important in the context of the integration within the Union State of Belarus and Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union,” Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said.

The participants of the videoconference noted that Belarus and Tula Oblast also strengthen social and cultural partnership. The partners organize theater tours, international educational activities, sports competitions and athletes’ training sessions on a regular basis.

The parties agreed to maintain professional contacts between relevant agencies in manufacturing, agriculture, road maintenance, tourism, education, sport, and culture.

Belarus is interested in the dynamic development of economic ties with Tula Oblast, Bellegprom Chairwoman Tatyana Lugina stressed. She believes that joint efforts will help find new areas of bilateral cooperation.

Last year, Belarus-Tula Oblast trade exceeded $268 million. In 2019, export Belarusian enterprises to Tula Oblast rose by 14.1% year-on-year. Belarus’ main exports include products of the textile industry, chemical industry, and mechanical engineering, as well as food products. The key imports from Tula Oblast include products of such industries as ferrous metallurgy and organic chemistry.

The videoconference featured Bellegprom Chairwoman Tatyana Lugina, Belarus’ Deputy Industry Minister Dmitry Kharitonchik and Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Alla Lomakina.
