Belarus, Russia to discuss interregional trade, economic cooperation

MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – A meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission for Interregional Cooperation of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of Russia will take place in Minsk on 15 February, BelTA learnt from the press service of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament.

The meeting is part of the program of the visit of the Russian parliamentary delegation to Belarus led by First Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Federation Alexander Torshin.

MPs are expected to discuss prospects for trade and economic cooperation between the administrative-territorial units of Belarus and subjects of Russia. The agenda of the meeting includes an issue related to the implementation of the joint action plan of the Council of the Republic and the Council of the Federation on expanding the Belarusian-Russian cooperation and organizing forums of the Belarusian and Russian regions.

Parliamentarians will also discuss the ways of improving cooperation mechanisms between Belarus and Russia in the Union State projects and programs, a number of other issues.

The Russian parliamentary delegation is in Belarus on 14-16 February. The program of the visit envisages a meeting with Chairman of the Council of the Republic Anatoly Rubinov. Parliamentarians will be given a tour of the precision engineering R&D company Planar and an entertainment and sports center Minsk Arena.
