Belarus-Russia Forum of Regions to be financed from Union State budget in 2018

BRYANSK, 18 December (BelTA) – The Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will be financed from the Belarus-Russia Union State budget in 2018, Belarusian MP Olga Politiko, a member of the PA commission on budget and finance, told the media on the margins of the 53rd session of Belarus-Russia Union State Parliamentary Assembly (PA) in Russia’s Bryansk on 16 December, BelTA has learned.

“One of next year’s innovations is that the forum will be financed from the Union State. Since Belarus and Russia hold it together it will be logical if the Union State participates in the financing of this big event,” Olga Politiko noted.

A number of the Union State programs will be financed from the Union State budget in 2018, she informed. In addition, the funds have been earmarked for four new programs, the harmonization of which is currently underway in the financial and economic bodies of the Union State. They are aimed at enhancing the border security, the system for protection of the Union State information resources, the military infrastructure facilities planned for the joint use by the regional group of forces of Belarus and Russia. It is important to make an emphasis on the integrated, well-crafted programs if we want to achieve serious results in science, defense and post-Chernobyl rehabilitation and make sure that the budget funds are used in the most efficient way, Olga Politiko noted.

The 53rd session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State was held in Bryansk, Russia on 16 December. The keynote item on the agenda was the parliamentary hearings on the harmonization of the legislation on the equal rights for citizens of the two countries.

The fifth Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will be held in Mogilev in late September 2018.
