Belarus, Russia coordinate short-term joint foreign policy activities

MINSK, 22 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia have coordinated short-term joint foreign policy activities, Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said after the joint meeting of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Russia in Minsk on 22 November, BelTA informs.

Vladimir Makei remarked that the meeting with Russian colleagues focused on a wide range of issues concerning the cooperation between the two ministries, topical issues of bilateral cooperation, interaction in international organizations. In particular, the parties signed a plan of ministerial consultations between Belarus and Russia for the near future. This plan included more than 20 meetings and events.

The Belarusian minister of foreign affairs stressed that the today’s joint session of the board focused on the IAEA-related aspects of international cooperation, Chernobyl-related issues, and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Belarus and Russia have harmonized a plan of ministerial events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two states which will be marked in 2017.

According to the minister, the sides had a constructive meeting, there was an open and productive discussion of many issues on the bilateral agenda. Vladimir Makei said that it will help the countries address existing challenges.
