MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – Belarus remains a strong advocate of closer integration in the Eurasian region, Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said at the first meeting of the CEI Committee of National Coordinators (CNC) under the auspices of Belarus CEI presidency in 2017, BelTA has learned.
“The CEI Presidency is of special importance for Belarus. Our country has always been a big supporter of integration in the post-Soviet space, and is one of the founders of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Union State and also the Eurasian Economic Union. Despite the fact that not all of our expectations have been met, we remain a staunch advocate of closer integration in the region for the public good,” said Vladimir Makei.
Attending the CEI Committee of National Coordinators are representatives of 18 countries, CEI Secretary General Giovanni Caracciolo di Vietri and CEI Alternate Secretary General Margot Klestil-Loeffler.
The agenda of the meeting includes the issues related to the activity of the organization, cooperation across sectors and with other international and regional associations, reforms of the CEI.
