Belarus reaffirms readiness for active participation in SCO events

MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus Leonid Marinich with head of the department for cooperation with regional organizations st the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, National Coordinator of Uzbekistan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Rakhmatulla Nurimbetov, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Tashkent.

The parties discussed the priorities of Uzbekistan's presidency in the SCO, noted the importance of further expansion of economic cooperation within the organization. The ambassador expressed interest in Belarus' active participation as an observer in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, especially in view of Uzbekistan's presidency in the SCO in 2022.

The Belarusian side confirmed its readiness to take an active part in SCO events at various levels this year, including those scheduled to take place in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
