MINSK, 21 May (BelTA) – Belarusian MPs ratified the intergovernmental agreement between Belarus and Russia on cooperation in the use of the Russian global satellite navigation system GLONASS, BelTA has learned.

According to Chairman of the State Military Industrial Committee of Belarus Sergei Gurulev, the goal of the agreement is the joint activity related to the use development of the GLONASS system and the relevant satellite navigation technologies.

The intergovernmental agreement was signed by the two countries at the meeting of the Union State Council of Ministers on 13 December 2013.

The document envisages the regulation of cooperation in the development of the Belarusian ground infrastructure of the GLONASS system.

The agreement also provides for mutual scientific and technical information sharing, experimental data, results of development projects, materials, equipment and software.

Sergei Gurulev noted that the positions are currently coordinated with the Russian side.
