MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) – The House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus ratified the agreements on extradition and the mutual legal assistance in criminal matters with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 13 May, BelTA informs.
According to Deputy Justice Minister of Belarus Igor Tushinsky, the documents lay basis for Belarus-UAE cooperation in legal matters. The agreements were signed in Abu Dhabi on 22 October 2014. Cooperation on the two agreements will be implemented through the Belarusian Prosecutor’s General Office and the Justice Ministry of the United Arab Emirates.
The agreement on extradition envisages that, for instance, Belarus may request for the extradition of a Belarusian national that stays in the UAE.
The assistance in criminal matters will include crime detection, arrest, confiscation of proceeds of crime, transfer of material evidence and other events.
