Belarus president: No color revolutions will happen if people live well

Belarus president: No color revolutions will happen if people live wellMINSK, 17 November (BelTA) – If living standards are okay, no color revolutions will happen. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the relevant statement while talking to representatives of Russian regional mass media in Minsk on 17 November, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko noted: “Now Belarus and Russia should take a look at the very important things that people need in order to live well. Then people will be patriots and no color revolutions will be able to unseat us. But if we fail to take care of that, then, powered by the frenzied democracy of today’s world, people will unseat us without color revolutions.”

The head of state reminded about the difficult times when many goods, for instance, washing powder, were in very short supply in the Soviet Union. “We should take care of matters, which are important for the daily lives of our citizenry. We should bear in mind errors of the Soviet Union and provide the population with everything it needs,” stressed the Belarusian leader.

Today Belarus’ food security is solid although there were problems with that as little as 20 years ago, remarked the President. “I remember getting a report that Minsk has flour to last for three days only and there will be no bread. It was the first task I had to take care of in Minsk. Back then I swore I will do everything to feed the Belarusian nation, to never again see Belarusians standing in queues with coupons like beggars in order to buy a piece of butter or a loaf of bread,” said the Belarusian leader.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, Belarus is ready to establish manufacturing cooperation with Russian regions in order to prevent the shortage of some kinds of merchandise. “If you want to do something, come here. We are ready to work with you and at prices below your prime costs. We have already demonstrated that you don’t have to pay some frauds anything because we will make the same for you at half the price. We just want you to get a sufficient amount of food. I also would like us to keep footwear and apparel manufacturers working well,” stressed the head of state.

The President remarked he was wearing a Belarus-made costume. “I believe that good clothes should be made in Belarus,” he said.
