Belarus President backs BRSM project Flowers of the Great Victory!

Belarus President backs BRSM project Flowers of the Great Victory!MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – The BRSM Youth Union unveiled the project Flowers of the Great Victory! and presented its symbol – an apple tree flower with a red-and-green stripe – to the Belarusian President at the 42nd conference of the BRSM Youth Union on 20 January, BelTA has learned.

The President supported the initiative of the youth. The national patriotic project Flowers of the Great Victory! will be implemented in the year of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory. An apple tree flower became its symbol because it illustrates prosperity and success of sovereign and independent Belarus in the past 20 years.

“May 1945 is associated with a feeling of nationwide joy, pride and happiness, with the fragrance of apple tree flowers which seemed to be given by nature to the victorious nation as a symbol of rebirth and nationwide celebration,” according to the youth union. Apple tree flowers are a symbol of spring, revival, beginning of the new life, nationwide happiness of various generations on Victory Day. The image of a blooming apple tree garden symbolizes fertility, wellbeing, vigorous development, success and prosperity of sovereign and independent Belarus. The red-and-green ribbon in the flowers highlights the historical significance of Victory Day for the society, its huge role in the development of the country.

The project is expected to be turned into a charity campaign. The funds will be used to provide targeted support to war veterans.

The organizers hope that the forum will be appreciated by Belarusian people and will be held every year.
