Belarus Premier voices systemic tasks for 2014

MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) – The systemic tasks that have to be accomplished in 2014 were voiced by Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich at the expanded participation session of the Council of Ministers on 18 February, BelTA has learned.

“After strategic matters concerning the development of the economy were revised by the head of state, it is necessary to mobilize resources and drastically accelerate the work. The President has made quite concrete decisions. All of us have to ensure the unconditional fulfillment of these instructions,” stressed Mikhail Myasnikovich.

It is necessary to pay close attention to Eurasian integration, in particular, the preparation of the draft Eurasian Economic Union treaty. In May the presidents of the Customs Union member states will discuss the drafts of the document. “The view of the Belarusian side has been set by the head of state: we should create a full-value common market without exemptions or restrictions,” reminded the Prime Minister. He remarked that within the framework of the integration association it is important to ensure the free flow of commodities, services, capital, and workforce. Work is now in progress to remove multiple exemptions. Issues concerning services and capital have yet to be addressed.

This task has to be accomplished without damaging national interests, underlined Mikhail Myasnikovich. The matter will be discussed by the government within a month. All in all, it should be examined by all the agencies concerned. “We cannot allow any intermediate, half-baked decisions. We have to scrutinize everything,” said the Prime Minister.

The systemic tasks for the year 2014 also include holding the world ice hockey championship on par with international standards, modernization efforts relying on modern technologies, and colloboration with small and medium business. “We have Directive No.4. It is the basic document. It should be executed in full just like any other legal documents that regulate this kind of business,” demanded Mikhail Myasnikovich. “At present a lot of Belarusians are employed in small and medium business. The government will create the necessary comfortable conditions for them and for other economic operators”
