NEW YORK, 23 September (BelTA) – Belarusian Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich met with United States congressman Hakeem Jeffries in New York on 22 September to discuss political cooperation, BelTA has learned.
“We talked about politics, sanctions. I told him there were no grounds for a whole range of Belarusian companies to be sanctioned,” the PM said following the talks. On the whole, Mikhail Myasnikovich said the talks were constructive.
According to the Belarusian Premier, the congressman praised the role of Belarus and its President Alexander Lukashenko in a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.
The parties considered a number of issues related to the establishment of a higher confidence regime. “We have agreed that the U.S. House of Representatives will consider the possibility of sending its representatives to Belarus in order to see the doing business climate in the country and what political decisions should be taken to create the corresponding comfortable conditions for trade, economic and investment cooperation,” the PM said.
