Belarus PM meets with Novosibirsk Governor

NOVOSIBIRSK, 19 January (BelTA) – Belarus Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich met with Governor of Novosibirsk Vasily Yurchenko on 19 January, BelTA has learnt.

The meeting took place as part of the official visit of the Belarusian head of government to the People’s Republic of China (19-23 January). The parties discussed a wide range of issues, including supplies of Belarusian vehicles to the Russian region in 2014, creation of joint ventures, and cooperation in science and education.

It was noted that Belarus-Novosibirsk relations were vibrant. Today in Novosibirsk there are four companies assembling Belarusian equipment, and regional dealers (Gomselmash-Sibir and MTZ Sibir trading houses). In 2013 the export of Belarusian products to the region grew 16.4% as against 2012. With this, the agricultural produce supplies soared almost 80%. Novosibirsk also imports Belarusian tractors, truck-tractors, plastic containers, metal goods, sugar, ceramic tiles, dairy products, and many more.

As for scientific cooperation, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Siberian Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences are currently implementing 34 joint projects.
