MOSCOW, 20 February (BelTA) – Belarus and Peru are interested in strengthening the ties between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs. Igor Petrishenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia, and Luis Benjamin Chimoy Arteaga, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Peru to Russia, discussed ways to step up the cooperation on 20 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Embassy in Moscow.
“The parties exchanged opinions on the ways to bolster the cooperation between Belarus and Peru in politics, trade, economy and education. They expressed mutual interest in strengthening the cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and expanding the legislative framework of the bilateral relations,” the press service said.
The diplomatic relations between Belarus and Peru were established on 19 February 1997. In 2016, the bilateral trade totaled $10.1 million.
