MINSK, 6 July (BelTA) – Belarus' possible expanded participation in the UN peacekeeping operations will be discussed at the 2017 Chiefs of Defense Conference in New York, BelTA learned from the website of the Belarusian Defense Ministry.
The Chiefs of Defense Conference is taking place in New York, U.S. on 6-7 July. It is addressing the aspects of the UN peacekeeping operations around the world. Partaking in the event is Oleg Belokonev, Chief of the General Staff of the Belarusian Armed Forces, Belarusian First Deputy Defense Minister. He is to hold a range of bilateral meetings with heads of foreign delegations, top executives of the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations and Department of Field Support.
The conference is designed to exchange views on the topical issues of the UN policy in international peacekeeping operations, peacekeeping training, and on the promising avenues of international peacekeeping at a strategic level.
