Belarus participating in discussion about modern threats, challenges in Slovenia

MINSK, 2 September (BelTA) – Belarus is taking part in the discussion of the counteraction of modern threats and challenges in the Slovenian town Bled, representatives of the Embassy of Belarus in Hungary and Slovenia (concurrent accreditation) told BelTA.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Hungary with concurrent accreditation to Slovenia Alexander Khainovsky is taking part in the annual international strategic forum that is scheduled to take place in Bled on 1-3 September. This year’s event is focused on the counteraction of modern threats and challenges in Central and Eastern Europe and in the Balkans.

The Ambassador is also expected to meet with representatives of the Slovenian Foreign Ministry to discuss the expansion of Belarusian-Slovenian political dialogue and the enhancement of economic cooperation. The sides will also talk over preparations for the next session of the Belarusian-Slovenian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation and a bilateral business forum, which are scheduled to take place in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana in late October.

Belarus-Slovenia diplomatic relations were established on 23 July 1992. The Embassy of Belarus in Slovenia has had concurrent accreditation in Hungary since 2008. The Belarusian-Slovenian intergovernmental commission that was set up in 2010 is the main instrument for expanding the economic ties.

In H1 2014 Belarus-Slovenia trade totaled $150 million.
