Belarus needs to reverse negative economic trends in 2014

MINSK, 23 January (BelTA/ - The negative trends in the economy of Belarus need to be reversed this year, Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko said when appointing the heads of local executive bodies, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“It should be borne in mind that the period we are going through is difficult. Much has been said about it, including by me. I do not want to exaggerate the problems and difficulties that exist in the economy, and the reasons for this situation. But I hope that this year we will live much better and will be able to reverse the negative trends in our economy. Everything depends on us,” the head of state.

“Let us work hard so that people would not want any other government. You know what should be done for it: in the construction industry, utilities, agriculture, protection of human rights, salaries, security and other issues. The political component is very important in your future work. We will have nothing, if our economy does not work. The economy is the foundation,” the head of state stressed.

“If our companies perform well and the country’s economy relies on the results of certain companies, believe me we will have everything we need. That means you need to immediately embark on the work with the companies. It pertains, first of all, to chairpersons of city and regional executive committees and heads of municipal administrations. This is the zone of your responsibility,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
