Belarus’ MPs to attend OSCE PA Winter Meeting

MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) – Belarus’ parliamentary delegation led by Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Viktor Guminsky will take part in the Winter Meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly that will be held in Vienna on 21-22 February, BelTA learnt from the press service of the House of Representatives.

The delegation includes Chairman of the Permanent Commission for International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic Vladimir Senko.

The Belarusian delegation will take part in the sessions of the Standing Committee of the OSCE PA and three General Committees: the General Committee on Political Affairs and Security; the General Committee on Economic Affairs, Science, Technology and Environment; and the General Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions. The Belarusian MPs will speak on the major points of the agenda, the press service informed.

During the visit Viktor Guminsky is set to meet with foreign parliamentarians and take part in the meeting of the heads of the parliamentary delegations of the CSTO member states in the OSCE PA, the press service said.

The participants of the Winter Meeting will discuss the state of efforts to implement the declaration adopted in Monaco in July 2012 and the agenda of the OSCE PA regular annual session in Istanbul, Turkey. A special debate will be held to discuss “How OSCE countries should respond to crises in Syria, the Sahara, and North Africa”, cross-border cooperation and interaction between the OSCE PA and the OSCE/ODIHR during election observation, and other topics.

The MPs will hear out reports of the heads of observation missions who monitored elections in the OSCE region (Ukraine, the United States, Romania and Armenia).
