Belarus, Mongolia are on the same page in economic cooperation

Opening ceremony of the National Exhibition of the Republic of Belarus in MongoliaULAANBAATAR, 5 September (BelTA) – Belarus and Mongolia are on the same page regarding the issues of economic cooperation as well as the implementation of joint projects, Belarusian Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich stated at the opening ceremony of the National Exhibition of the Republic of Belarus in Mongolia on 5 September, BelTA has learnt.

“Yesterday I had talks with the top officials of Mongolia. We are on the same page in all the economic issues as well as economic projects. We also talked over a whole range of humanitarian projects and agreed on certain areas of the coordinated foreign policy,” the Premier noted.

Mikhail Myasnikovich is confident that all these give confidence that the projects Belarus plans to present at its national expo will be further expanded and benefit to both Belarusian and Mongolian companies.

“We have come here to demonstrate what Belarus has. We have come to establish commercial contacts, sign mutually beneficial agreements and learn more about each other,” the PM said.

As for the Belarusian plans, Mikhail Myasnikovich stressed: “Belarus plans not only to trade in Mongolia but to set up new companies in cooperation with Mongolian counterparts.” This would create new jobs in the country and secure the relevant profits to Mongolian companies.

The Belarusian head of state named the mining sector, engineering area, public municipal passenger transport and commuter services among the promising areas for the bilateral cooperation.

Opening ceremony of the National Exhibition of the Republic of Belarus in MongoliaIt has been numerously noted by representatives of the two states that despite the recent growth in the bilateral trade, its volume has not reached the desired level yet. In this respect active involvement of ministries, chambers of commerce and industry into the process is an important factor for further development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

The National Exhibition of the Republic of Belarus and the first Belarusian-Mongolian business forum are bright examples of the two countries’ commitment to the development of bilateral relations.

According to Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Mikhail Myatlikov, the organization of the exhibition has been preceded by thorough market exploration. Mongolia’s interest has been taken into account as the list of companies-participants was compiled. The preference was given to the companies which are in demand on the Mongolian market. Thus, for instance, Belarusian sweets enjoy great popularity on the Mongolian market. Today’s contracts are worth hundreds of thousands of U.S. dollars. Belarusian medicines are also in high demand in Mongolia.

First of all, these are developments and technologies which are related to and necessary for geological exploration works,” Mikhail Myatlikov said.

A total of 82 Belarusian companies are taking part in the expo in Mongolia. The expo is held as part of the official visit of the Belarusian government delegation led by Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich to Mongolia. The visit completes today, on 5 September. The expo will stay open through 8 September.

BelTA reported earlier that in addition to the meeting with Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj, the Belarusian head of government met with Mongolia Prime Minister Norovyn Altankhuyag and Chairman of the Mongolia Parliament Zandaakhuu Enkhbold on 4 September. Today, on 5 September, Mikhail Myasnikovich is taking part in the Belarusian-Mongolian business forum.
