Belarus’ Mogilev twins with China’s Nanjing

MOGILEV, 4 October (BelTA) – Belarus’ Mogilev has signed a twinning agreement with China’s Nanjing during an official visit of the Belarusian delegation to China, BelTA learnt from the Mogilev City Executive Committee.

The twinning agreement envisages step-by-step development of relations in economic, investment, educational, cultural and other areas. The first steps have already been made during the visit. The parties held talks on a number of projects with Chinese investors in Mogilev. First of all, the parties agreed on the construction of an aqua park, a themed park and a center of traditional Chinese medicine in Mogilev.

Nanjing became Mogilev’s 18th twin city. It is a big industrial and cultural center. Its population exceeds 8 million people. Nanjing is situated in the eastern part of China. It is the capital of Jiangsu Province. The two cities had earlier signed a memorandum of understanding to boost bilateral cooperation.

“In order to strengthen the agreements that have been reached and consider possible platforms for investing, business representatives from China have been invited to the 8th International Investment Forum that is due in Mogilev on 4-5 November,” the Mogilev City Executive Committee said.

The parties also signed contracts on the delivery of Mogilev goods to China. China is interested in supplies of beef of Mogilev Meat Packing Plant, bakery and confectionary products of Domochay Company. Babushkina Krynka has already shipped trial consignments of whey and milk to China.
