MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – The heads of the customs services of Belarus and Lithuania will meet at the Kamenny Log (Medininkai) border checkpoint on 20 December to discuss the ways to reduce queues at the border, BelTA learnt from the press service of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Belarus.
SCC Chairman Alexander Shpilevsky and Director General of the Customs Department under the Finance Ministry of Lithuania Antanas Sipavicius are expected to consider a range of cooperation issues and make an emphasis on optimization and facilitation of customs operations including the use of the advance electronic cargo information system. They will get familiar with the prospects of a project related to the transport queue information management system which is to be implemented at the Medininkai checkpoint of the Lithuanian-Belarusian border in Q2 2013.
The parties will also look into a draft memorandum of intent between the State Customs Committee of Belarus and the Customs Department under the Finance Ministry of Lithuania on cooperation during the 2014 IIHF World Championship in Belarus.
