Belarus, Latvia to work on inter-parliamentary dialogue

MINSK, 17 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Latvia intend to develop an inter-parliamentary dialogue. The matter was discussed in a meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Latvia Alexander Gerasimenko and the Latvian Saeima’s group on inter-parliamentary cooperation with the National Assembly of Belarus, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

The parties discussed bilateral cooperation between Belarus and Latvia. Both the sides hailed the momentum in the bilateral dialogue, including at the inter-parliamentary level. The parties also considered the ways to strengthen cooperation in transit, culture, education, environment tourism and cross-border cooperation.

Alexander Gerasimenko updated the Latvian MPs on the main areas of trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries, the progress made in the implementation of the agreement on cross-border cooperation and other joint projects.

The parties agreed to continue joint work of the MPs groups of Belarus and Latvia towards the development of the inter-parliamentary dialogue, which in turn will promote stronger all-round cooperation.

According to the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, Belarus’ Ambassador to Serbia Vladimir Chushev met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivan Mrkic. The parties exchanged opinions on the Belarusian-Serbian relations in the economic, political and cultural areas. The two sides placed focus on further development of cooperation and contracts, implementation of joint economic projects.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Sergei Aleinik met with Chief Executive Officer of London Stock Exchange Alexander Justham. The parties expressed mutual interest in cooperation in international investment, discussed the opportunity of holding joint events on the use of London Stock Exchange financial instruments by Belarusian economic operators.
