Belarus, Israel to sign visa abolition agreement 19 September

VITEBSK, 12 September (BelTA) - Belarus and Israel will sign the visa abolition agreement in Minsk on 19 September, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Belarus Yosef Shagal announced in Vitebsk, BelTA has learned.

The Israeli Ambassador is Vitebsk to take part in the international educational and cultural and entertainment conference "Art Limmud Belarus".

This is a landmark event for the two countries. The signing ceremony will be hosted by the Foreign Ministry of Belarus, the Ambassador said in an interview with BelTA. The document will be signed by Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei and Sofa Landver, the Israeli Minister of Immigration and Absorption, co-chairperson of the Belarusian-Israeli commission on economic and trade cooperation.

"This agreement on visa-free regime is similar to the agreement which Israel has signed with Russia and Ukraine. The citizens of our countries will be able to stay in Israel and Belarus within 180 days without a visa,” said Yosef Shagal, stressing that this provision applies to ordinary citizens and not to holders of diplomatic and official passports.

The Israeli Ambassador emphasized that some time will be needed to complete technical arrangements before the agreement comes into effect. The day of the entry into force will be announced later.
