Belarus, Israel to coordinate efforts amidst abolition of visas

MINSK, 8 July (BelTA) – Representatives of the interior ministries of Belarus and Israel will discuss cooperation in the context of the forthcoming abolition of visas between the two states, BelTA learnt from the Interior Ministry of Belarus.

The matter will be discussed during the visit of the Israeli delegation to Belarus. The Israeli delegation will be led by Deputy Interior Minister Faina Kirschenbaum. The Belarusian Interior Ministry will be represented by Interior Minister Igor Shunevich and Deputy Interior Minister Nikolai Melchenko. The officials will discuss the bilateral cooperation in law enforcement and the exchange of expertise and knowledge in combating crime. Top on the agenda will be immigration policy and illegal migration, human trafficking, the use of biometric databases and information storage.

The Israeli delegation will stay in Belarus from 9 to 13 July. The Israeli officials are set to hold meetings with representatives of the State Border Committee and the Foreign Ministry of Belarus. Knesset member Faina Kirschenbaum who used to lead the Israel-Belarus Parliamentary Friendship League will also meet with Belarusian MPs at the House of Representatives of the National Assembly.
