MINSK, 17 September (BelTA) – Belarus is in favor of preserving the universal character of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), spokesperson for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing on 17 September, BelTA has learned.
Belarus’ view on the matter will be voiced at the 62nd Session of UNCTAD Trade and Development Board hosted by Geneva on 14-25 September. Belarus, on principle, advocates the preservation of UNCTAD's mandate and the maximum use of its unique database and analytical reports. Belarus believes that UNCTAD's priorities should include reforming the international investment policy regime and coordinating the efforts of the international community aimed at the development and implementation of international investment rules.
Belarus praises UNCTAD's efforts in the field of technical cooperation keeping in mind the projects of technical assistance carried out in the country and in the region.
