Belarus in favor of closer ties with Azerbaijan in industry, investment

BAKU, 25 October (BelTA) - Belarus would like to expand industrial and investment cooperation with Azerbaijan and looks forward to bolstering ties in education, science and innovation, Marianna Shchetkina, Vice Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, said during a meeting with Chairman of the Milli Mejlis of Azerbaijan Ogtay Asadov, BelTA learned form the Council of the Republic.

Marianna Shchetkina welcomed the positive dynamics of mutual trade between the two countries. “There are good prospects for further growth as we can expand mutually beneficial cooperation in industry, wood processing, agriculture, transport industry, and healthcare,” she said. In her view, the two countries could add in investment cooperation. “We are open to suggestions and are willing to meet Azerbaijani investors halfway to ensure projects in Belarus are implemented successfully,” the vice speaker noted.

Special consideration was given to the role of the parliamentary dimension in bilateral cooperation. Ogtay Asadov highlighted effective partnership between parliamentarians of the two countries. Interparliamentary friendship groups work actively. “Interaction between the National Assembly of Belarus and the Milli Mejlis of Azerbaijan serves as an example of effective work in the field of international cooperation,” he said. The speaker stressed that Azerbaijan appreciates the understanding, support and successful results of parliamentary dialogue because it is an important part of the overall high-level strategic cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
